I Heart: Chap Hop

Awhile back I went on the pursuit of looking for songs pertaining to Tea and stumbled across this lovely video:

It wasn't long until I started to browse more of his songs, and just like that my love for the Chap Hop genre developed. This is Professor Elemental, a lead star in the genre of Chap Hop. I'm new to this genre but from what I can understand is that it was created in the subculture of Steampunk with the spirit of taking something modern and giving it a classic refined appeal of old times. So basically you get Hip Hop with the mix of Gentleman antics.

I'm not into the Steampunk genre as much as I used to be, but what draws me to this genre is the simple uniqueness that it has. I love the cleverness and the story telling that's involved with each song. The lyrics are mostly silly yet there are some that are genuinely whimsical. The artist in this genre alone have to create a character all their own. As a 90s child, I also hear undertones of some old school Hip Hop undertones, which makes these songs nostalgic and new all in one.

So far I've only found two major characters that are a part of this genre, which I'm purchased both of their albums. I recommend Professor Elemental and Mr. B the Gentlemen Rhymer to anyone that enjoys children's books, Steampunk, are an Anglophile like myself, or just plain good old fashioned humor.

Enjoy!

Tea Songs for a easy Sunday

Today is Veteran's Day in America, a holiday where we celebrate the courage and bravery of all soldiers that have returned from war. Sadly in Los Angeles this means everyone attempting to kill each other over mall sales. I just about got my identity stolen today paying my bills running into the mall before I was too late for one of my store accounts. I won't touch on the mayhem that the parking lot was in. To say the least I did not have the Sunday that I planned. Tea was calling my name, deep within my warm sweet Study. Today was just one of those days where you're heads swirls.

Anywho, before I rolled up my sleeves to work on my novel. I did a little you tube surfing to calm my nerves. I was curious if I could find any music to match my amazing tea. Here are my top three that I found... I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do.

Tea  by J.B. Dazen: This song has to be my favorite out of all of them. It just feels like tea after a long day. It had the "Ahhh...." factor and made my Sunday all better. I'm so happy that he has an album avalible! What a great performer!

Tea Song by The McGetigans: How catchy is this? I am seriously considering this as my new ringtone. It's like a drinking song, but for tea! Yes I know, I'm a serious Tea Geek, but it certainly puts a smile on my face.

Cup Of Brown Joy by Professor Elemental: Did I say I was a Tea Geek? I really love this song, I love how utterly silly and carefree it is. I've just started looking at his other songs but Cup of Brown if definately my current favorite of his.

Happy Veterans Day everyone! Thank you my Grandfather who served in the Korea War, my nephew Philip who survived an attack in Afghanistan. I'm proud to say that I'm related to brave men like yourself. Now if you'll excuse me I have some serious tea sipping to do. My current brew is Osmanthus Milky Oolong. What are you brewing this lovely evening?
