Hair Affair: Raven Locks

I need to confess, I am obsessed. I am obsessed with my hair, so much that it's probably something that will come up after a day of knowing me. I'm addicted to everything about it, cutting it, styling it, most importantly I love dying it. I can honestly say I've done all the 6 colors of the rainbow and can't seem to stop. It started a back in 2009 when I decided to take the plunge and finally cut my hair short. After trying to grow it out long for so long I just had it and wanted to see what was so great about short hair, boy was I missing out! Since then I've gone several short styles; even buzzing the back of my head. It's such a rush to feel the back of my neck with the scissors snipping away.

I find hair color almost more important than any type of makeup. It frames your face and your skin tone. A good color can make you look young, vibrant, and fresh. I'm that girl that gets snippy about roots and changes her hair color almost every month like Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim. Sometimes I go punk and take a wild color like hot pink or teal; mostly I dye my hair auburn and plum colors. I get creative and I do tips, highlights, ombre, what ever finds me as pretty at the time. This time I went to clean the slate with a nice black.

I've come to enough years of bad and good haircuts that I have a short cut that I finally enjoy. I think it's a pixie-bob of some sorts. I talked my hair dresser through it, which was pretty cool since we had a conversation while shaping it making it interactive. Any who, if you noticed from my interview with Adobe blog, my hair color was a little two toned. I was getting over the time earlier this summer when I went teal. Long story short the color never evened.

I could have evened it out with a stronger dye, but I knew I would have fried my hair so I went back to black. I used my favorite brand Nutrisse in the color Black Tea (of course ;) ) which is a soft black. I enjoy the shade because it blends nicely when it fades. It looks much like my natural hair color so the roots are not required to touch up. I got a tan this summer so it's been hard to wear certain colors that I used to with makeup and clothes. The black helps as a neutral to help quite a bit with that so I'm happy with it. I might do peekaboo highlights later as my original plan, but we'll see, I'm enjoying that it matches everything in my wardrobe.

The pictures were taken in Skype. I'm wearing purple in honor of Spirit Day, a day dedicated to being against bullying. More about it as its officially tomorrow.
