I Heart: My Yoga Ball

SoCal weather is crazy, infact by tomorrow we're to supposedly jump from high 60s low 70s right back up to high 80s low 90s.  Plenty of people I know are dealing with constant headaches and pressure from the endless humidity change. Sadly, I'm one of them. Since this has been going on and off for a few years now, I have one think thats a sure fire defense: breathing and meditation.

I started breathing techniques about a couple years back when I was suffering from a severe anxiety attack that left me unable to eat any real food for two weeks. I was getting tired of living off of bland apple sauce, butter-less popcorn, and no sleep, when my friend who practices' yoga walked me through some breathing techniques on the phone. It was a fight; and after all the medication and the advice from the doctors, the breathing left me sleeping that night and eating the next morning. Since then I've never been able to take the power of breathing and meditation for granted.

I got my yoga ball a couple of months ago with an in-kind donation from LA Shares. An office in Santa Monica was closing shop and they said we were welcome to take anything we desired. Love went for two bookshelves and came back with not only the shelves, but a storage cabinet and a yoga ball for me. I always wanted one, but could never find a large one in my budget.

Now it sits on the left side of my bed next to my yoga mat. I get up every morning and just roll around on it or let it stretch me. I wake up stuffy and sometimes with a headache and the use of my ball just gets rid of that feeling. It has become one of the things that I look forward to in my day. As my schedule gets chiseled away better, I hope to start practicing more moves with it. I think at one time everyone should give a yoga ball a try. Trust me, it's one of the friendliest exercise pieces I've ever known...
