A Fresh Face for a Second Life

For those of you who are no stranger of this blog, you might have started to notice some differences to the site. That's because for the past couple of weeks I've been toying around with the overall look of the blog.  Seems all that was missing was the wallpaper in the background you see. It's a big change from the previous site, but I think this reflects my mood as of lately.

There's no secret that I'm a bit of a romantic goth by heart (just take a look at my office tour on Halloween) so when I found this beautiful tiled wallpaper, I adjusted the colors to make it look like a rich tapestry. I've also been into wrought iron as of late, so I framed my 'about' picture in a similar style. The logo makes me happy, I took two of my favorite teas and put them in the text (Gyokuro and Jasmine Blossom Tea). The font is a bit more modern looking, but I think the texture seems to pull it together with the rest of it.

Hope you like the new changes! It sorta makes me feel like I'm going into a really good cafe or curling up to a really great classic. Then again, it might be because it matches the decor in my home a bit too closely.

There's a few more adjustments to be made on the blog, but I think this is overall the look I'll be staying with.

Crossing Fingers: October 2014

Greetings Everyone,
Happy October to you! In LA, this is when the nights start to get a bit cooler and you realize you're not exactly beading sweat through the day. It's also when a bunch of birds migrate to the area, or they decide to come out here and there. I particularly love the murder of crows that like to come out, along with the sparrows and robins. We also get the Santa Ana Winds, since I live in a canyon they get particularly strong where I live. When they arrive it almost feels like it's a time of cleaning all of the muck that the summer left.

I've been looking forward to the beginning of the month of October, this is for a few reasons. One is Fall is a very magical time here in LA, the weather doesn't change much, but the attitude of the city as a whole does. People seem a bit more contemplative and careful. Second, Halloween is a holiday that I leave to celebrate friendship. Lastly, I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am in surviving until Fall emotionally. Since my wedding in March, things have just seemed to be utterly insane with adjusting to married life. I've taken all of it in, good and bad, with a tougher skin I can proudly say that I've done my best and conquered.

As a tradition on this blog, I'm going to add my Crossing Fingers for this month. I think it reflects a bit of what my goals are overall and the symbolism of constantly changing. Thank you everyone that has come with me on my journey this far. I am blessed to have your support.

Challenges for October 2014:

1. Build a writing routine: Goodness, I'm turning 30 in February (when did that happen!?), I've gotten married, got my degree. All my life goals before I turned 30 have been fulfilled. It's left me a bit lost (another Thoughts post). I realize that as much as the future is mine to take, it's also unknown territory. So I'm turning to my other desires in life: to publish my stories. Stories bring me life, they make me feel complete. You could say that this challenge is more about bringing my stories to life for the rest of the world.

2. Introduce more post topics: I also want to dedicate more time here, as this has become my little corner of the world to share my experiences.I want to add some of my happenings when I did go on blog hiatus, some of  the books I've been reading, and perhaps share more on some topics I can shed some light on from my experiences and my lifestyle. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

3. Go on more walks: I'm a ridiculous hermit when it comes to my weekdays. With an extensive book shelf, working at home, and the not-so-occasional- e shopping and browsing. I'm going to try and just get out more. I'm surrounded by beautiful parks in my area and it's time to make the best of it. I'm also thinking of incorporating this into my meditation routine.

So that's everything! Wish me the best!

Project Italy Dramatic Reading

Can you imagine it? After quite sometime my story will be taking flight once more! There is something sacred and magical about theatre to me, and this production has left me breathless. Coming 'home' seems to be a big theme for me as of lately, and nothing seems to drive that idea home than our weekly rehearsals.

I love that this cast is a mix of experienced and new actors, and better yet, the support everyone gives. There's a team willingness and effort that really drives the heart of this cast. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside seeing something that I had wrote with my husband give back. When I direct and I see the difference in the way the story feels, I wonder why the hell did I ever stop doing this!?

I'm also blessed with a fantastic set of Producers too. Pete and Danny have been simply amazing driving this production forward. I can finally see the vision come alive of giving the nerd/geek community quality productions to feed the imagination. The harmony of all the brands under Azure Lorica (Ninjacon, Driftplume, Triskele Press) is working wonderfully.

If your in the Los Angeles area (Long Beach) that Friday night please come by and enjoy the show! I love hearing from the few that follow this blog when I see you at cons and meetups. I promise you the show will be amazing. (Knock on wood. You can't be too safe with theatre lol) Our site also has some video recordings and updates of the production overall, you can follow that here:

Autumn Web Cleaning 2014

Hello everyone,
Its been awhile, perhaps too long. Instead of apologizing for my behavior and inserting a bunch of typical feasible excuses, I'd like to explain more over why I've returned to my cyber cozy nook of the internet that I have called teaspectral.

I want to start by saying that I truly enjoyed my time on this site, blogging, and sharing a piece of my life with others. Things got in the way of this part of my life and I regret not keeping it up. There is something very human about personal blogs that I think keeps the online world reminded that in the end, this is about connecting others with a miraculous way. From something as silly as cutting my bangs in the bathroom, to shopping hauls to inspire women of all shapes and walks of life, I am grateful for those that have even paid a visit and witnessed me, a very human soul, do very human things. Thank you from the bottom of my heart visitors and subscribers alike.

I would also like to address that I really did enjoy blogging and I miss it still. Normally one would create a new blog with a new subject (and I've been down that way many a times), but I just can't seem to bring myself to do it. I feel that there is something very brave about facing who you once were, and something braver about connecting them with your current self. This exactly what I intend to do with teaspectral. As much as so much has changed, so much has stayed the same. I must warn you, there are no 'gimmicks' to the return of me writing on the blog. I will continue to try to write what fascinates and inspires me, and yes there will be days where I will be in a rut and I will write sad things. I will say however, in the end you will get to know me very well, both new and the same.

Is it just me or have all the blogs I used to subscribe to simply fallen out of existence? I find that such a pity since I really did enjoy returning to my feed and reading other peoples work. I hope that I find other new bloggers along the way. I've added a picture of the former teaspectral before I revamp and design the site. I consider it beautiful spring cleaning.

Thank you for joining me fellow souls.
